Fender bender in Conshohocken lands man in prison on gun charge

NORRISTOWN — A Philadelphia man faces up to a dozen years in prison for illegally possessing a gun and trying to evade arrest after a fender bender in Conshohocken while he was riding an electric bicycle.

John E. Butler, 40, of the 400 block of West Cheltenham Avenue, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 6 to 12 years in a state correctional institution on charges of person not to possess a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, evading arrest, resisting arrest and failing duties at stop sign in connection with the June 4, 2024, incident at the intersection of Harry Street and the SEPTA railroad crossing near Washington Street.

The sentence was imposed by Judge Steven T. O’Neill who convicted Butler of the charges during a non-jury trial at which Butler stipulated to certain facts contained in an affidavit of probable cause…
