Cheltenham High School on temporary lockdown following report of an armed individual chasing a student, no threat found

Cheltenham School District officials announced today that a report through the 911 dispatch system said that a high school student was being chased by an unknown individual in possession of a firearm this afternoon.

According to a letter by ShaVon Savage, assistant superintendent, two Cheltenham police officers arrived at the high school at 2:50pm and informed building administration of the report. Police said the call was made “from off-school grounds but the caller told dispatch that they were headed in the direction of the high school.”

“Out of an abundance of caution, all students participating in sports and afterschool activities were brought back into the high school if they were outside, and the school went into a secure hold,” Savage wrote…
