Mayor Cherelle L. Parker Leads Charge Against Youth Hunger and Violence in Philadelphia

Mayor Cherelle L. Parker’s Wednesday was all about bolstering support for the city’s youth and curbing violence as she had her hands full with two major events dedicated to these causes. The day kicked off with Parker addressing the Summer Meals program, an initiative ensuring that Philadelphia’s children would not go without nutritious meals during the school break, according to the City of Philadelphia. The kickoff event, held at Vare Recreation Center, underscored the importance of partnerships between the Office of Children and Families, Parks & Recreation, and the American Dairy Association North East in feeding the city’s youth.
