Man living with disabilities in Philly explains impact of DC 33 strike

Philadelphia residents living with disabilities say the ongoing workers strike this week has added complexities, particularly when it comes to trash removal.

Christopher Giovanetti, of Philadelphia, experienced a brain hemorrhage 11 years ago, leaving the left side of body paralyzed. He walks with a cane and leg brace.

“I can barely walk a block,” Giovanetti said. “I can’t carry a trash bag and walk with a cane at the same time. If I did, I’m pretty sure it would rip open.”…
