Man Dies After Jumping From Roosevelt Boulevard Overpass in Philadelphia

On July 7, 2025, 33‑year‑old Matthew Michael Selvin crashed his car and died after leaping from the Roosevelt Boulevard (U.S. 1) expressway down to Germantown Avenue while trying to evade state troopers, according to a press release from the Pennsylvania State Police Skippack Station.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., troopers on Interstate 76 West initiated a stop of a silver Honda Civic for alleged traffic violations near mile marker 340.6. Instead of complying, Selvin fled north onto Roosevelt Boulevard. Authorities later boxed him in near the Broad Street exit. The driver exited the vehicle and ran on foot into the southbound lanes. Troopers abandoned the pursuit on foot but quickly formed a perimeter.
