New Jersey leaders broke ground Tuesday on the state’s first maternal and infant health center, a $86.7 million project that state officials say will serve as the epicenter for advancing equitable maternal and infant health care.

Gov. Phil Murphy’s office said the facility, set to open in early 2027, will make childbirth safer and eliminate racial disparities in care for mothers and babies across the state.
