Philadelphia Murder Charges Filed Against Michael Piselli in 78-Year-Old’s Death

A 38-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a 78-year-old who was severely beaten inside a South Philadelphia home in December 2024. According to a news release from the Philadelphia Police Department, Michael Piselli’s charges were upgraded after the victim, Santo Procopio, died from his injuries nearly two weeks after the assault.

On the evening of Monday, December 2, 2024, just before 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a person screaming on the 2600 block of South 10th Street. When police arrived, they found Procopio with serious injuries to his head and face. He was taken to Jefferson University Hospital and was listed in critical condition.

Police reported that Procopio sustained cuts to his head and chin, fractures to his face, and bleeding in the brain. He remained hospitalized for nearly two weeks before he was pronounced dead on December 14, 2024…
