Crime is a bad thing. No matter what kind of crime it is. Violent crimes seem like the worst of the worst crimes, and crimes against youth are absolutely despicable. When we hear about a mass shooting at a school in Texas, Kentucky, Florida, Ohio, or upstate Pennsylvania, that’s still not Philadelphia. For some reason, for years, it seems to me, we dodged the “mass shooting” type of crimes in our own backyard.
Unfortunately, more recently, things certainly have changed. While the statistics show that crime overall in the city is down, and the murder rate is lower now than it was this time last year, why is it, darn it, that every night on the news, we hear about more murder and mayhem on our streets?
Somebody didn’t get the memo about crime being down…
