Traffic Stop Turns Into Chase: Stolen SUV Suspect Arrested After Crash in East Lansdowne

EAST LANSDOWNE, PA — A routine traffic stop in East Lansdowne led to the arrest of a Philadelphia man accused of driving a stolen vehicle and attempting to flee police, according to the East Lansdowne Police Department.

On August 5, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Officer Cosgrove observed a black Kia SUV traveling westbound in the 900 block of Baltimore Avenue with what appeared to be a fraudulent license plate. After initiating a stop in the parking lot of a Sunoco gas station, Officer Cosgrove, assisted by Officer Schailey, determined the vehicle had been reported stolen.

As officers attempted to take the driver, identified as 28-year-old Ahmad Stinson, into custody, police allege he accelerated in an attempt to escape.
