City awards Philly police new wages, bonus, more benefits over next 2 years

Philadelphia police will receive wage increases, a bonus and more benefits over the next two years following an arbitration award from the city.

On Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, Mayor Cherelle Parker, Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel, and other city leaders announced the 2025 Interest Arbitration Award between Philadelphia and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 5, the union that represents around 14,000 current and former members of the Philadelphia Police Department and Sheriff’s Department.

The arbitration award lays out wages and benefits for Philadelphia Police over the next two years. It includes annual 3% wage increases, a $3,000 cash bonus, one wellness day per year, a new sick leave policy and civilianization, a process in which positions within the department that perform non-law enforcement duties are transferred to non-law enforcement staff…
