Villanova University ‘active shooter’: Students run in terror amid terrifying text warning

An active shooter was reported at Villanova University, located west of Philadelphia, on Thursday, according to an alert issued by the school. There were no reports from responding law enforcement of victims or injuries, as of about 5:30 p.m.

“ACTIVE SHOOTER on VU campus. Move to secure location. Lock/barricade doors. More info to follow,” the first alert said. A second alert also warned students to avoid the university’s Law School Scarpa Hall.

More than 100 members of the Radnor Police Department, FBI and state police were on scene responding to the active shooter report. Havertown police were also assisting with the investigation, Police Chief John Viola told CBS.

“Radnor Township Police Department are on location at Villanova University for a repot of an active shooter,” the department posted on X. “All nearby residents and students are asked to SHELTER IN PLACE AT this time. All further information will come from the Office of the Superintendent of Police.”…
