Philadelphia police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two men suspected of carrying out a series of armed robberies in South Philadelphia late last month. Investigators say all three incidents happened in the span of a few hours, beginning the night of Tuesday, July 30, 2025, and extending into the early morning of Wednesday, July 31. Each case involved victims being threatened at gunpoint, though no one was injured.
The first robbery took place around 10 p.m. on July 30 on the 1500 block of Catharine Street. According to police, two suspects approached a 68-year-old man. One of the men was armed with a black and silver handgun. The suspects demanded the victim’s property, telling him to “give it up,” before stealing $60 from his pocket and fleeing the scene.
Roughly one hour later, at about 11 p.m., another robbery was reported on the 1100 block of Ellsworth Street. Police say the victim, a 31-year-old man riding a bicycle, was stopped when one of the suspects stood in the roadway. That suspect lifted his shirt to display a gun, while the second man acted as a lookout. Investigators state the victim was forced to hand over his backpack, which contained an iPhone, a wallet, and $60 in cash. The backpack was later recovered nearby, with the phone and wallet still inside. However, the $60 was missing…
