A pair of women from Philadelphia were arrested for theft after intentionally not scanning a combined total of $247 in items at a Walmart self-checkout.
A deputy responded to Walmart, located at 550 U.S. Hwy. 27, Clermont, regarding 32-year-old Peyana Lacheeca Fayall and 27-year-old Tracey Catalin Starling intentionally not scanning items at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Loss prevention explained that Fayall was mixing scanned and non-scanned items at the self-checkout bagging area. Footage showed her walking up to the register and putting two cartons of juice, melatonin and hot sauce on the right side of the register. She did not scan them and had them bagged by another person, the report said.
A second video showed her failing to scan clothing items and a bottle of shampoo, putting them into the bagging area and only paying for what she scanned. Her stolen goods totaled $25.97, the report said…
