The Allegheny West Foundation (AWF) and the North 22nd Street Business Association are bringing back an outdoor community festival to the heart of North Philadelphia. This event is for the community and small business owners along the North 22nd Street Business Corridor, marking the first time in almost fifteen years. The event has been dubbed the North 22nd Street October Festival, and it is scheduled to take place, rain or shine, on Saturday, October 25, 2025. The 2800 and 2900 blocks of North 22nd Street will be blocked off for the festival from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on October 25. The festival itself will run from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Ronald E. Hinton, Jr., President of the Allegheny West Foundation, stated, “I remember the days when we hosted a community festival on North 22nd Street every summer. Our festivals were always a success, providing a time for family fun and networking. Ken Curry and I put our heads together and decided it was time to bring the festival back to life. Many of our business owners along the North 22nd Street Business Corridor are really looking forward to the festival we’re hosting on October 25. Everyone is feeling like this is just what we need to bring our business owners and community, along with civic and elected leaders, together.”
Ken Curry, President of the North 22nd Street Business Association and the co-owner of Precious Babies Child Care Academies with his wife, Yvonne, commented, “Our business corridor is a thriving business corridor with a variety of wonderful shops and businesses. Our business owners sell all kinds of products, merchandise, and services, ranging from hair salons and barbershops to exclusive women’s fashion boutiques and accessory shops, as well as an old-school hardware store and a designer eyeglass business with an optometrist on site. We’ve got over fifteen locations where one can purchase prepared food to enjoy or food to cook along our corridor. And we even have several specialty shops, including a t-shirt printing business, an electronics repair business, and one of the top African American-owned and operated bakeries in the city of Philadelphia, Denise’s Delicacies…
