Philadelphia Unveils Supportive Housing for Young Adults Exiting Foster Care in Sharswood

A new housing development in Philadelphia has opened to support young adults transitioning out of foster care or facing housing insecurity. The Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA), in partnership with local service providers and officials, announced the opening of 2112 Ridge Avenue, a supportive housing project designed to assist residents in achieving stability and independence.

PHA CEO Kelvin A. Jeremiah highlighted that providing stable housing allows young adults leaving foster care to focus on their future. The facility, located in North Philadelphia’s Sharswood neighborhood, includes 36 units and communal spaces for engagement and personal growth.

Valley Youth House was selected as the Supportive Service Provider, offering programs and guidance for residents aged 18 to 24. Odin Properties will manage the development. Each eligible resident will be referred through city services…
