Philadelphia police are continuing their investigation into the death of 50-year-old Amadou Thiam, who was discovered with life-threatening injuries after officers responded to a reported burglary on the 2400 block of Federal Street. The call came in just before 7 p.m. on Monday, November 10, prompting officers to enter the property where Thiam was found unresponsive, unclothed, and suffering from severe head injuries in the rear section of the home. Emergency personnel transported him to Penn-Presbyterian Hospital, where he remained in critical condition until he died on the morning of Wednesday, November 12.
Thiam was known in the area due to his work as a flight attendant and his regular travel schedule. Neighbors told reporters that he was social and frequently seen moving in and out of the residence. They said he had lived at the location for about six years and that the discovery of his injuries created significant distress on the block.
