On November 26, 2025, Pennsylvania Lt. Governor Austin Davis announced an investment of nearly $3 million to support hospital-based violence intervention programs (HVIPs) in the state. The announcement took place at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia. Davis was joined by state officials to recognize the organizations receiving funding. The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD), chaired by Davis, approved the grants earlier that day. The funding follows a competitive grant awarded to PCCD by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2024 to expand HVIPs in Pennsylvania.
Several organizations will receive funding. Penn Trauma will get $736,372 to expand its Violence Recovery Program at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Temple University Hospital will receive $875,000 to start the Wellness and Recovery through Advocacy and Patient Support (WRAPS) initiative, which will focus on patients with spinal cord injuries. The University of Pittsburgh will receive $944,851 to expand its Empowering Teens to Thrive program, which supports young people injured by violence. The Urban Affairs Coalition, on behalf of the Chester Community Coalition, will receive $350,000 to restart an HVIP that was previously at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.
