Philadelphia police are investigating a series of robberies and attempted robberies early Friday that targeted at least three neighborhoods, including Fishtown and Port Richmond.
The incidents occurred between midnight and just after 6 a.m., and in each case, suspects displayed an AR-style rifle to threaten victims, authorities said.
Timeline of Incidents
- 12:14 a.m. – A woman on the 2500 block of Clearfield Street was blocked by a silver pickup truck. A suspect exited and pointed a gun at her, demanding she open her doors. She reversed and escaped unharmed.
- 2:47 a.m. – On the 800 block of East Thompson Street, a woman was approached by a suspect while walking up the steps to her home. Police say the suspect, wearing a ski mask and dark clothing, pointed a gun, but she ran inside. The suspect fled in a light-colored SUV without taking anything.
- 5:44 a.m. – A man sitting in his vehicle on the 2500 block of Emery Street was robbed by two armed men who stole an iPhone, two iPads and cash.
- 6:00 a.m. – A woman using an ATM on the 4700 block of Rising Sun Avenue was approached by two suspects who displayed a black rifle and took cash.
- 6:17 a.m. – Police say a man was in his vehicle when he was approached by an armed suspect on the 1000 block of East Palmer Street. The victim grabbed the gun and was able to get away unharmed.
Police are still investigating whether the incidents are related or involve the same suspects…
