Lahquae Stjuste was charged with kidnapping and other offenses after Deptford police were dispatched to the 800 block of May Avenue for a reported 911 hang-up, according to Sgt. Robert Jones. A 911 operator reported hearing a subject in the background asking for police, but officers received no answer when they arrived at the home, Jones said.
A witness then reported seeing the man being forced into the back of a black Mercedes sedan and appearing to have been assaulted, Jones said. Officers found the vehicle a short distance away and initiated a motor vehicle stop, at which point the 59-year-old victim was able to escape, Jones said.
The victim suffered severe injuries to his face and body after being assaulted inside his home and inside the vehicle, Jones said. Officers attempted to arrest Stjuste, who resisted, assaulted officers, attempted to disarm two officers of their firearms, and bit another officer, Jones said.
