Litter of 8 newborn puppies discovered abandoned inside a shopping bag at Philadelphia store

In South Philadelphia, Outcast Rescue came to the aid of eight newborn puppies abandoned in a bag in a shopping cart outside of a Target store.

On December 19, a Good Samaritan heard the desperate cries of the newborn puppies; they had only been a few hours old, and their umbilical cords were still wet.

When the puppies arrived at the organization’s veterinarian partner, the body temperatures of the newborns had been dangerously low. They were immediately placed in incubators as veterinarians tried their best to stabilize their conditions. Beth Hucke, the organization’s board director was outraged:

They literally threw these puppies away like they were garbage. What would cause somebody to just toss babies into a shopping cart?…
