Giant Closes Willow Grove Center as Strategy Shifts

Giant is shutting down a fulfillment center in Willow Grove and others as the grocery chain transitions away from centralized online order operations, writes Emma Dooling for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The Willow Grove facility is among five Pennsylvania sites expected to close by the end of the first quarter of 2026, according to Giant parent company Ahold Delhaize USA.

The move reflects Giant’s decision to discontinue its centralized fulfillment model and shift fully to in-store fulfillment. Giant operates more than 70 stores in the Philadelphia region, which will now handle online grocery orders directly…
