Charges held for trial for man who allegedly claimed he was a millionaire whose parents died on 9/11

Felony charges of theft of services and writing bad checks were held over for trial in Bucks County Common Pleas Court at a preliminary hearing last month against a New Jersey man accused of defrauding a Warrington Township documentary video producer by claiming he was a millionaire whose parents died during the Sept. 11 attacks and writing a bad check.

Nelson Elberto Garcia, 60, of Audubon, N.J., allegedly hired the victim to film a documentary before paying with a check drawn on a closed account.

Police said the case began on Sept. 12, 2024, when the Warrington resident reported that he had been contacted by a man identifying himself as a millionaire whose parents were killed on Sept. 11, 2001.
