Philly fugitive whose 2015 conviction was overturned now in critical condition

A homicide suspect — who was released from prison several years ago after his 2015 murder conviction was overturned due to its connection to a disgraced detective — was shot and stabbed by another man over the weekend, Philadelphia police said.

Arkel Garcia, 32, was wanted by police for allegedly killing 68-year-old David Weinkopff back on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025, in Philadelphia. Weinkopff was found dead inside an apartment along the 4900 block of Stenton Avenue. Investigators said he died from blunt force trauma. Garcia was identified as the suspect in the murder.

Then on Dec. 19, 2025, the U.S. Marshals announced Garcia was also the suspect in the murder of 51-year-old Antwan Daniels in Fort Pierce, Florida…
