While walking down a sidewalk in Philadelphia, a man noticed a cardboard box sitting off to the side.
Normally, he would have passed by it. But then he heard faint, desperate cries coming from inside. When he opened the box, his heart sank.
Tucked beneath a thin blanket was a newborn kitten, so new to the world that his umbilical cord was still attached. Tiny, fragile, and completely alone, he had no way to survive on his own.
His soft cries filled the air, as if he were calling out for his mother, or anyone willing to come to his rescue.
But what that baby didn’t know was that he’d been left in the right place. The box had been set just outside the shelter where the man worked…
