Handcuffed prisoner escapes Temple Hospital, caught 90 minutes later by SEPTA Police

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – A 51-year-old man briefly escaped police custody early Thursday morning after slipping out of his handcuffs and fleeing from Temple Hospital before being captured about an hour and a half later, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 6:15 a.m. as the man, who was in police custody, was being discharged from the hospital. Investigators said he managed to remove his handcuffs and run from the facility in an unknown direction. A flash alert was immediately issued to officers across the area.

At approximately 7:45 a.m., SEPTA Police located and apprehended the escapee at Broad Street and Erie Avenue without incident…
