Terrell Burton, 41, of the 1600 block of West Allegheny Avenue, died after the crash on the Broad Street Line at 4200 N. Broad St. around 1:30 a.m., according to a preliminary release.
Burton had exited the train as it arrived at the station, investigators said. As the train began moving southbound, he stepped backward and fell into the space between the train and the platform, police detailed.
