Trenton Farmers Market fires manager over insensitive Black History Month comment

The Board of Directors of the historic Trenton Farmers Market fired its manager after receiving backlash for posting a racially insensitive comment on Facebook.

Bill Kearney, who has managed the market in Lawrence Township since 2023, had commented “Happy BH month” on Feb. 12 under an article reporting that three Black men were arrested and charged with burglary.

The Facebook post by New Jersey 101.5 included mug shots of each of the men who were involved in a Dec. 16 home burglary in Montgomery Township in Somerset County, along Mercer County’s northern border…
