A pre-dawn fire in the Tacony neighborhood left residents on edge Sunday morning as Philadelphia Fire Department crews raced to the scene and worked through the morning in a coordinated response.
Department’s update
According to a Facebook post by the Philadelphia Fire Department, members “mounted a strong response” to the Sunday morning blaze and thanked partner agencies for their assistance. The department also asked the public to keep its firefighters and those affected by the fire in their thoughts.
Safety and air quality
After neighborhood fires, city health officials typically advise residents to stay indoors, close windows and minimize outdoor activity while air quality is monitored, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health notes. People with respiratory conditions, young children and older adults are urged to take extra precautions and consider wearing an N95 if they need to be outside.
