A brightly plumed peacock turned a quiet South Jersey weekend into a neighborhood spectacle, strutting through backyards in Cherry Hill on Saturday before later popping up miles away near Voorhees. The bird hopped fences, sauntered across patios and stayed one step ahead of police and animal-control crews who tried, unsuccessfully, to corral it. Its glossy, iridescent feathers drew plenty of smiles and a few worried looks from neighbors mostly united on one point: they just wanted the bird to end up safe.
