South Philly Street Crews Smashed in 21-Suspect Gun Case, Krasner Says

Twenty-one people allegedly tied to four South Philadelphia street groups were charged Thursday in a sweeping case that prosecutors say connects two years of shootings and one homicide across the city. The arrests grew out of an investigation that traced attacks from 2022 through 2024 and left dozens of people wounded. Prosecutors said the defendants, whose ages range from roughly 18 to 35, are accused of victimizing 32 people, including a 16-year-old.

Prosecutors identified the groups as the Senders, PNB, Close‑Range Gang and 7th Street, and said two suspects are in custody in connection with the homicide, according to CBS Philadelphia. District Attorney Larry Krasner told reporters the arrests are part of an ongoing push to curb gun violence, warning those involved to “be put on notice now.” Investigators said some defendants are being held without bail, while others are facing bonds as high as $6 million.

The new charges follow earlier DA action and are part of a broader, multi‑agency effort. In a Feb. 25 press release, the Office of the District Attorney described a prior sweep that relied on ballistic comparisons, video surveillance and witness statements to connect defendants to multiple shooting scenes across West, South and Southwest Philadelphia.

According to prosecutors, the 21 defendants are charged in 24 separate incidents, including one homicide and 18 nonfatal shootings, that occurred largely in South Philadelphia between 2022 and 2024.
