Car Splits Completely in Half After Violent Late-Night Crash in Southwest Philadelphia

Southwest Philadelphia was the scene of a jarring and visually stunning crash Thursday night that left one vehicle torn completely in two, drawing police and aerial news coverage just before midnight. The incident took place near the intersection of 61st Street and Passyunk Avenue, and the images coming out of the scene were the kind that stop you mid-scroll. SkyForce10, a helicopter news crew from a local outlet, was hovering over the scene around 11 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, capturing aerial footage that showed just how severe the impact must have been. For a vehicle to split in half, the forces involved are almost difficult to wrap your head around. These are thousands of pounds of steel and engineering, and something reduced one of them to two separate pieces lying in the road.

A second vehicle was also spotted stopped nearby, sitting in the middle of the roadway with police cruisers surrounding the area.
