Reinventing the classic ice cream experience with a freshly baked-in-store dough cone, Crispy Cones Voorhees has set Friday, June 5, as its opening date — and the owners have also announced an upcoming Marlton location!
I stopped in yesterday to meet partners Mark, Russell, and Mariska, who are local Cherry Hill residents bringing Crispy Cones to South Jersey, and got a full tour of what the concept is all about.
The star of the show is the premium ice cream, but the signature feature at Crispy Cones is the sweet dough cone. More common in European countries such as the Czech Republic, the layered ice cream treat has only recently started gaining popularity in the United States.
The cone itself is made from fresh dough, grilled rotisserie-style in a rotating oven, and coated with cinnamon sugar or specialty flavored powders…
