Amkor’s $33 million expansion raises concerns for Peoria residents

PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — The City of Peoria has approved a multimillion-dollar land sale that clears the way for semiconductor packaging company, Amkor, to expand its footprint in the city.

Amkor, which has already announced a $7 billion investment in Peoria, is buying 67 acres of Arizona State Trust land for nearly $33 million, according to the city. The purchase brings the chipmaker’s planned site to about 171 acres.

City officials say the additional land is intended to support Amkor’s long-term production and hiring needs, with projections of about 3,000 jobs by 2028…
