PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through Monday, and First Alert Days continue through then as well. Please stay hydrated and avoid prolonged outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.

Highs today are forecast to reach 116 degrees, which would tie the record high for August 1. Sunday’s high is expected to reach 115 degrees. If that forecast verifies, it would break the daily record of 114 degrees. Monday will remain dangerously hot, with a forecast high of 114 degrees.

A gradual cooling trend begins next week, although temperatures will remain above average. Highs are expected to reach around 111 degrees on Tuesday before easing to about 109 degrees from Wednesday through Friday. Morning low temperatures may also finally dip into the upper 80s by the end of the week…
