Chandler Unified Board split over ‘land acknowledgment’

A heated debate over “land acknowledgment” at the Aug. 19 Chandler Unified School District Governing Board meeting ended with members deciding to make it an action item on its Sept. 9 meeting agenda.

The debate started after board member Kurt Rohrs expressed a desire to leave the dais and speak during public comments as a taxpayer and Chandler resident, and not as a sitting board member.
