Secondhand shopping can be a way to save money, find something unexpected and give existing items another chance at life. For Sandra Hyde and her daughter, those ideas came together in Wicked Trade Curated Resale, a Peoria, shop built around a more thoughtful approach to resale.
The business began as a home-based venture in August 2022 before moving into a physical storefront in February 2024. On opening day, Sandra and her daughter simply flipped the sign from “closed” to “open” and waited to see how the community would respond.
“We live in a world that has so much stuff and everything new is super expensive,” Sandra says. “We wanted to do our part for the environment as well as for our community.”
Rather than presenting shoppers with rows of largely unsorted merchandise, Wicked Trade focuses on a curated selection of vintage, modern and unusual items.
