Phoenix Mother Arrested After Police Say Her 1-Year-Old Died of Possible Overdose

Phoenix police found 1-year-old Jody Jackson unconscious before he later died at the scene

A Phoenix mothe r was arrested after her baby died from what police said was possibly a fatal overdose, according to reports.

Phoenix police responded to an apartment near 32nd Street and Van Buren Street around 7:30 a.m. Monday, where they found 1-year-old Jody Jackson unconscious, Arizona’s Family reported.

Jody died at the scene. His mother, Natalie Tate, 37, was arrested on charges of negligent homicide and child abuse after she reportedly told police she had used drugs the night before her son’s death.

Tate told authorities that Jody could have gotten into the containers with the drugs and ingested a pill, the outlet reported. Police didn’t identify the drugs.

It is unclear when Tate will appear in court and if she has an attorney.
