Phoenix Police Arrest 73-Year-Old in Connection with December’s Fatal Motorcycle Hit-and-Run

Phoenix, AZ – A somber resolution has arrived in the case of a fatal hit-and-run that occurred in Phoenix last year. On January 29, 2024, the Phoenix Police Department arrested 73-year-old Paula Miller for her alleged involvement in the tragic incident that claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

The incident unfolded on December 14, 2023, near Seventh Street and Thunderbird Road. According to police reports, the victim, 31-year-old Katerina Penrose, was riding her motorcycle west on Thunderbird Road when Miller, driving another vehicle, allegedly made a left turn in front of Penrose, leading to a fatal collision. Penrose sustained severe injuries and, despite being rushed to the hospital, succumbed to her injuries.

The arrest of Miller followed an intensive investigation by the Phoenix Police. After the accident, the driver fled the scene, leaving Penrose injured on the road. Investigators found a Buick Lucerne in a garage at a residence near Thunderbird and Cave Creek roads. The car showed signs of being involved in a collision, including paint chips matching the victim’s Ducati motorcycle. Using video footage from nearby businesses and corresponding cellphone data, authorities were able to identify Miller as the suspected driver.
