PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) – Brief heavy rain, thunderstorms with lightning and small hail swept through the Valley on Thursday. Over half the gauges in the Phoenix Rainfall Index had measurable rain as of Thursday afternoon, with an average just under a tenth of an inch. Parts of Laveen got a real soaking from a powerful thunderstorm that dumped over an inch near Rogers Ranch.
