Owner Mat Ishbia Makes Big Announcement On Phoenix Suns’ Future Plans

The Phoenix Suns are coming off of a solid season that ended with a first round NBA Playoffs sweep at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves and their star guard Anthony Edwards.

On Wednesday, Ishbia and the Suns made a surprising announcement about a game that will be held in an entirely different venue than both NBA and Phoenix Suns fans are used to seeing.

Ishbia, the billionaire and Michigan State University alumnus, has big plans to treat fans to what he called “an incredibly special experience.”

The plan is to take Kevin Durant and the Suns’ professional basketball show on the road to one of the most basketball-crazed cities in the United States: East Lansing, Michigan, home of Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans.

The Suns announced they have scheduled a preseason matchup with the Detroit Pistons at the famous Breslin Center in East Lansing, currently set for Tuesday, October 8 at 7 p.m. ET.

“From being a walk-on at Michigan State on the national championship team, to now being able to bring the Phoenix Suns to play at Breslin Center — this is a full circle moment and an incredible experience,” Ishbia said.
