Talking to your partner about your relationship and solving different issues before they become serious is essential to staying happy and making sure both of you feel fulfilled.

But what do you do when they refuse to discuss anything and even avoid saying one word for days on end? Is that a way to prevent tension, or will it get so stressful that your relationship will be over because of this kind of behavior?

My friend Tracy, who lives in Phoenix, Arizona, has been dating Andrew, her boyfriend, for one year. They were friends throughout college and decided to start going out together once they graduated. They saw each other while also going to different classes, and they both had full-time jobs to cover rent and the rest of their expenses.

As time went by, they realized they had a lot in common, and they wanted to have a long-term partner, raise a family, and be successful as far as their careers were concerned.
