The Phoenix Suns might not be opposed to breaking up their big three this season.
After all, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal haven’t won anything together, and frankly, the eye test tells you that there’s a lot of redundancy happening on the floor between these three wing scorers.
The question is, which of the three would Phoenix trade? The Suns would prefer to deal Beal, but virtually no one would be willing to take on his contract, so that’s pretty much off the table.
Durant becomes the next option to trade based on his age compared to Booker’s.
Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley recently suggested that a Durant trade to the Cleveland Cavaliers could benefit everyone involved. Phoenix would be getting Darius Garland and Evan Mobley back in the deal for Durant, who has two years remaining on a $198 million extension he signed in 2021.
“Cleveland’s roster has long been begging for a star wing and a shooter with size,” Buckley said. “Durant could check both boxes with ease. Even at 36 years old, he ranks favorably among basketball’s best net-shredders, and his ability to play both on and off the ball makes him a fit with anyone.”
