‘We were shocked’: Cowboy statue returned to Arizona owner decades after being stolen

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – It was after midnight on a summer night in 1985 when an alarm went off at a downtown art gallery. Police found a gaping hole in the front glass. The thief – or thieves – had reached in, pulled out a two-foot-tall bronze statue of a cowboy, and vanished.
