Arizona stepdad ‘tells cops’ 2-year-old stepson was ‘a lot’ following fatal beating

An Arizona man reportedly told police his two-year-old stepson was “a lot” after he allegedly beat the young boy to death .

Hein Lwin, 26, was handcuffed and hauled off to the Maricopa County Jail in October, facing a count of premeditated first-degree murder, police announced. Officials of the Peoria Police Department got a call Thursday, Oct. 24 regarding a choking toddler at an apartment complex in the area near 108th Avenue and Olive Avenue, according to a news release.

Lwin had made the call himself, claiming the young boy had a cloth lodged in his throat. “Peoria Officers and Peoria Fire-Medical attempted life-saving measures and transported the child to a local hospital,” police wrote in the release. “During the investigation, it was determined Hein physically abused the child multiple times, causing serious physical injuries. The child sadly passed away on October 27, 2024. Detectives later amended charges to first-degree murder while Hein was still in custody.”
