Phoenix voters overwhelmingly spared the city from a fiscal disaster and gave Mayor Kate Gallego a second term, according to unofficial results in the Nov. 5 election. Although Maricopa County had some 200,000 ballots to be counted at this newspaper’s deadline, the results indicated an almost mathematical impossibility for Republican Matt Evans to push his challenge into a runoff election in March.
