CHANDLER, Ariz. — A Chandler man is suing the city after he was paralyzed by police gunfire as officers were attempting to detain his neighbor.
Lawyers representing Mark Trujillo announced Wednesday they are filing a federal lawsuit against the City of Chandler for a police shooting reported on March 3, 2024 in an East Valley neighborhood.
According to the complaint, Trujillo called the police to report that a neighbor, later identified as Luciano Gutierrez, had allegedly been threatening his daughter. Chandler police officers responded and set up a perimeter around the neighbor’s house and attempted to communicate with the neighbor. Trujillo stood outside his home as the scene unfolded…
