Daily heat record broken in Phoenix for 1st time in March 2025

PHOENIX — A daily heat record that stood for 35 years in Phoenix was toppled on Monday.

The thermometer at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which the National Weather Service (NWS) uses for the city’s official records, hit 96 degrees at 3:52 p.m. The previous record of 94 degrees was set in 1990.

The rest of the week could bring more record-breaking temperatures.
