Following a multi-state manhunt, authorities have apprehended an accused serial rapist who had fled Arizona after severing his electronic monitoring device. Alex Bangash, 23, was taken into custody in a rural Texas county, as reported by ABC15, after an operation involving Tempe police and the U.S. Marshals. Tempe police are currently investigating five alleged sexual assaults, including one involving a minor, with incidents dating back to 2018.
Despite his not guilty plea, Bangash faces serious charges, among them sexual assault, kidnapping, and aggravated assault. Prior incidents allege violent sexual encounters often initiated through social media engagements, where the likelihood of anonymity and false trust contribute to the predatory nature of these assaults.
