PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Phoenix Fire crews rescued two people from Camelback Mountain on Friday, including a woman with heat-related symptoms.
The first incident happened around 10 a.m. when technical rescue teams were dispatched to Echo Canyon Trail, where a hiker had injured his leg. Crews found the man and called in the Phoenix Police and Fire’s Firebird helicopter to fly him to the base of the mountain. After being checked by paramedics, he declined transport to the hospital.
Around the same time, other hikers told rescue crews at the mountain’s base about another person who needed help. Crews made their way back up the Echo Canyon trail and found a woman suffering from heat-related issues. Firebird was called back in and she was flown back to the trailhead parking lot, where she also refused transport to the hospital.
