Phoenix police are investigating after two women were discovered shot and killed inside a Phoenix apartment complex earlier this week. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, an employee from the apartment complex near 24th Street and McDowell Road contacted authorities for a welfare check at around 9 a.m. on June 26, after the occupants had not been seen or heard from for several days. Responding officers and the employee found the victims, 38-year-old Tiwayla Spencer and 36-year-old Marquisha Williams, with apparent gunshot wounds.
An ongoing investigation is being conducted by the police, as they try to piece together events leading up to the incident. Although there are no outstanding suspects and no perceived threat to the community, the police have yet to define the connection between the victims, if any. The local community has expressed unease, with one resident, Lucas Hopkins, stating to FOX 10 Phoenix’s Kenzie Beach, “I honestly found that to be surprising because other than work, I’m here most hours. I would’ve called if I heard something.”
